Spez comes off as a narcissistic little pissbaby. Blaming the apps/devs that made Reddit what it is, rather than actually looking at ways to make the site better for everyone.
Blame-shifting is a tenet of narcissism. They can't be grandiose and entitled without it.
I think anyone surprised by Spez's behavior now have not actually read anything about him before
Power corrupts, this should probably be expected on every centralised service
