Philips Hue’s stability is kinda incredible (lemmy.world)

I spend like 2 years fighting Nanoleaf bulbs with Apple Home. I really wanted matter over thread lights to work. It was frequent disconnections and issues. After 2 years of that, I decided the only thing that mattered was my smart lights turning on and off as close to instant as possible.

I’m not crazy about the idea of Phillips Hue with their proprietary bridge. But damn the stability is very good. I plugged a bulb back in the other day that got unplugged, and it connected to the hub in <10 seconds. Contrast that with Nanoleaf which would sometimes take minutes to recover from a disconnection.

Idk what the point of this is other than to say, I’m happy I made the switch.

Add me to the list of happy customers. I’ve had Hue since day one. I’ve tried a dozen other brands as new products come out but none ever come close to the rock solid stability of Hue gear. FWIW, I’ve got about 25ish bulbs, plugs and wall switches running flawlessly.

The lights were my main frustration. I’m still running Thread switches, though they’re mostly HomeKit over Thread, not Matter. A big part of the problem is there are only 1 (maybe 2) Matter over Thread lights on the market last I checked. It’s really dificult to tell if the issue is Nanoleaf or Matter over Thread lights in general. For switches, there are many more options.
