Not that the current situation is any better, but I find it extremely weird that everyone was cheering for a billionaire that sees space exploration as his hobby to be NASA admin.

I think the key qualification is, Isaacman wouldn't have been trying to destroy NASA.

I know that, but a lot of people were cheering a lot louder than if they had cheered for someone who's best qualification is that he won't destroy NASA.

The tech bros liked him because he's a tech bro. Reasonable people thought he was the best we could hope for under the circumstances.
