Dad my bedroom door handle won't stay up so the door won't shut. How do I fix it?

@LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone You're going to buy a new handle/latch set and replace it. It's super easy, and all of this stuff is standard, so you don't have to figure out "which one you need" really. The Philips screws there obviously have to come off. The little hole in the bottom of the handle conceals a screw that holds the handle on (both sides). That might be a Philips, might be an Allen.

The latch plate comes off, the handles come off. Behind the round trim pieces, there will be some more Philips screws that hold another bit in that has to come out. Once that's out, the latch will slide out the side of the door.

Installation is reverse of removal. Seriously, this is an easy and cheap fix, even if you have to buy a couple of tools, too. Everything you need will be at your local home improvement store.

That's really easy to follow thanks dad! I'll pop to the hardware store tomorrow

@LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone In case you missed this from @fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk

Just to add to this - you might find there's 3 different depths of the latch mechanism bit (the bit inside the door), so take the existing one out first to help getting one the same size.

Definitely do that.
