Jane Kim is advancing to the midterms election for insurance commissioner, so that's basically the only good thing that happened.

I also voted for Rob Bonta because his Green party opponent, Marjorie Mikels, is 80 years old, and I refuse to vote for octogenarians. I am comfortable announcing my ageism, and wouldn't vote for Bernie Sanders either at this point, even though I would appreciate his mentoring. I wish more people would refuse to vote for people over 70 years old.

I had a feeling that Connie Chan was being encouraged and funded in the race to intentionally split the progressive vote so that Scott Wiener would win, and Saikat Chakrabarti would not. and I still feel that way. There were things that Chakrabarti could have done better. Politicking opportunities that were not done. It was going to be a difficult win for Chakrabarti regardless of Chan, but her decision to run made it that much harder for an anti-war, populist candidate to win. I feel... I don't know what the right word is... disgusted? with how many San Franciscans voted for Wiener, because he is going to be pro-forever-wars. Ignorance on his positions on bombing/genociding so many countries on behalf of Israel is not acceptable to me. Funding their healthcare while Americans don't have healthcare, etc.. I know someone that voted for Wiener because he came to their kid's middle school graduation once or something, and, while I think that is good politicking on Wiener's part, it's speaks little to their values. And I have doubts San Franciscans will ever change. and doubts that Californians will ever change for that matter.

I voted for Katie Porter for governor even though I knew about the strategic strategy of voting for Steyer, and it's possible he would have been a better governor than Becerra. I don't regret my vote for Porter. I would have preferred that Steyer supported Porter as the progressive candidate than claim he could do it better. But as of today, Becerra still has to earn my vote if he wants it.

Aside from Jane Kim, I think no one I voted for won. I feel pretty deflated, and disappointed. I question my city's values.

I am really frustrated that the State doesn't offer Ranked Choice Voting. Especially since there were 61 gubernatorial candidates. But even with RCV, I still think corporate backed moderates will have a strong hold on this state for my life.
