Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi said during a conference of his ruling party that Turkey would one day regain control of Jerusalem.

Speaking at a meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in Çorum province on Saturday, Çepik said: “Just as we witnessed the liberation of Damascus and Aleppo, we will, God willing, witness the liberation of Jerusalem one day.”

He added: “I still believe today that God will show us those days. He will certainly show them to us. I have believed this from the bottom of my heart, and I still do. Just as in the past, these places will return to us once again. They will, God willing, come back under our rule and authority, because we have a global leader like Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at our head. We have a leader of global stature.”

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz responded to the remarks on Sunday.

“I say to the Turkish interior minister, who threatens and dreams of ruling Jerusalem: Jerusalem is not Constantinople, and Israel is not the collapsing Crusader Empire. It is a strong and determined state that has proven its ability to defend itself against any threat,” Katz said.

He claimed that “Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish people for 3,000 years and will remain the capital of Israel forever, while the Ottoman Empire that you and Erdoğan dream about has collapsed and will never return.”

Katz added: “It is unfortunate that you have learned nothing from the legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who worked to make Turkey a modern state. Instead, you are trying to take Turkey back to an era of darkness and backwardness.”

Specially after the corridor between Iran and Lebanon through Syria has been shut down, Turkey is helping to smuggle arms to Lebanese resistance, including Hezbollah. They are not doing this because they are anti-imperialists, but because Turkey has their own interests. I'm pretty sure, for example, that Turkey wants a much bigger slice of Syrian territory than they have now, and Israel also has claims on that territory.

That said, the geopolitical table in middle east can be extremely messy. Turkey is known to play all sides. It's an NATO member, but sometimes they play against NATO's interests to appease Russia, at the same time that it helps NATO forces in middle east. It helps Iran because it does not want to strengthen Kurd forces in the region (there are Iranian Kurd militias that are kept under vigilance by the revolutionary guard). It attacked Syria and then hurt an important ally of Iran, but it is also playing against Israel's interests in Syria. And Turkey also disputes with Iran over the leadership of the axis of resistance.

Keep in mind that even Iran also has sometimes an ambiguous position. They tried to approach the US multiple times and used to distrust China. But ever since aggressions against Iran have been escalating, they are seeking proximity of Russia and China.

So geopolitics is not black and white. There are multiple layers of conflicting interests and contradictions at play.

Turkey is helping to smuggle arms to Lebanese resistance, including Hezbollah.

There's no such a thing. Hezbollah always been a state's one of the arch enemy of the states. After the revolution Hezbollah tried to import islamic revolution but they're failed so badly and in recent days mass purge happened agains the ISIS and Hezbollah. Turkiye helped the take down the Assad and still backing up its pupet and there's no evidence of helping the resistance. In fact, Turkish state arrested militias who fought in the resistance.

Turkiye, seems like playing all sides but end of the day they do whatever the US wants. Appease others do whatever US says strategy is called. Helping Iran isn't a thing again. Turkiye knew that after the Hezbollah and Syria; Iran will be the target.

After, Iran it would be Turkiye's itself. But, If Turkiye would be an anti-imperialist. Pupet regime do whatever Trump says and they're so happy with him.

Turkiye isn't resistancing anything but oppressing. Appeasing Russia isn't a strategy anymore tho. Russia isn't in Syria and Turkiye is the one of the arm partners of the Ukraine.

Turkiye helping Iran and hezbollah analysis is completely wrong and I searched it on the news and etc but never found a material that supports it.

You should follow the turkiyeCommunist sub for a better understanding

Analysis of Turkish help to Iran and Hezbollah: https://rieas.gr/images/editorial/stellager26.pdf

This study comes from a pro-US and pro EU think tank in Greece, so take it with a grain of salt.

Also check the other post I wrote about economic motivation and funding of Kurd paramilitary groups by Israel.

One important thing people need to understand, Turkey is not an anti-imperialist country. On the contrary, it is a regional power that seek their own interests in the region.
