Jobs was the precursor to Musk. Marketers who act like they're the designers but other people do the work. Jobs did at least have some design ethos though.
I mean, his design was basically unmedicated OCD...
Dude insisted on everything being neat and tidy, even sealed internals no one would ever see.
Is it better than a PC slapped together by a teenager in their mom's basement for 2/3s price?
Absolutely not.
But if you just look at the two of them side by side, the apple will always look more expensive. And that's enough for phones/computers. Most users don't really know what they want/need. 3-5 versions and annual releases give people enough illusion of choice they never leave the ecosystem they're used to.
