The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association estimates that of approximately 250,000 student athletes, between five and ten of them are transgender girls competing in sports. That is, at most, 0.004 percent of the student athlete population.

This November, voters will decide whether the state should subject all student athletes to genital exams to prevent the 0.004 percent from competing.

IL26-638, which qualified for the November ballot after Let's Go Washington gathered the required signatures, would prohibit students designated male at birth from competing in female-designated interscholastic sports. To enforce that prohibition, every student who wants to participate in a female-designated sport must provide a signed statement from their personal health care provider verifying their biological sex. That verification may come from a genetic test, a testosterone test, or - most likely - a genital exam.

He’s back. Well, he never really left. Conservative megadonor Brian Heywood wants to put two new policy proposals in front of the Washington state Legislature next year.

Both deal with kids in schools, specifically, with parents’ access to school records, and trans kids playing sports.

Heywood spent millions of dollars on a slate of initiatives last year. Some of them passed the legislature, like a ban on income taxes, a loosening of restrictions on police car chases, and a law codifying parental rights to information about their kids in school.

Other measures that Heywood sponsored went to the ballot last November. Voters rejected three of them. Those measures would have killed the state’s long-term care program, the Climate Commitment Act, and capital gains tax.

Voters passed a fourth initiative that Heywood backed, this one was about preserving access to natural gas. But that’s been tied up in the courts and hasn’t taken effect yet.

Now, Heywood and his advocacy organization Let’s Go Washington, are announcing two new initiatives involving K-12 school policy:

Seriously, fuck this guy

You're completely correct. His name should be the biggest red flag when it comes to legislation here.

@velma @Tujio @seattle Anyone that interested in the genitals of juveniles is a sick fuck. What is it with the wealthy & their obsession with other people's children?

Not just the wealthy. We've got all sorts of people backing this initiative.

Hell, I have coworkers that brought in the signature pages for this initiative. It's like arguing with a pedophilic brick wall.
