I'm definitely not arguing that, just that every article I see presents them as this super serious contender and everything. Maybe I'm just in denial and I refuse to accept it because they've been the racist asshole joke party led by the same idiot for literally my entire life.

They're a serious contender in the same sense trump was. An orange racist bafoon who set out to "drain the swamp". A ridciulous candidate who would only succeed if american politics had become psychotic. Except of course, it had become psychotic. That psychotic politics has come here

They are polling uncomfortably high, which puts them way too close to power. Worth taking seriously in order to effectively combat them.
