Yes! In my opinion and with good practice on commands they only become better listeners from here.
Wow, damn, now you got me wondering, as Brownie doesn't quite have any official commands that he obeys or even understands. He's weird like that, he seems to respond better with context clues and occasional cat commands LMFAO!
Yeah, he responds quicker to PSPSPSPSPS than he does his own name!
He's a rescue, so I have no idea what his original name was. I named him Brownie after we adopted him in 2024, but if I actually call him by his given name, he seems to understand that as we're upset with him, he must have done something wrong, and should probably spit out the chicken bone he found by the dumpster or whatever.
But he's got numerous friendly nicknames everyone has given him. His formal name is Brownie Parker, as he was found at the park, but he's also known as Chicken Butt, Cheese Butt, Fatass, and some other random names I forget. Regardless of whatever you call him, he knows when you're speaking to him vs speaking to others.
He's already fully house trained, that much is awesome! But you try to play fetch with him, he'll just look at you stupid like 'Why did you throw that stick/ball?'
I dunno, he's weird, but very cool and well behaved.
