GOG has been so much better than optical media for well over a decade at this point. You can't easily backup your physical games. I can backup my game installers, not just GOG either but they are the most popular IIRC. But I got Factorio DRM free directly from Wube.
you can sell a physical disc, can't sell the game installer from GOG (at least not legally)
So I'll just give friends a copy instead. Oh that is so much worse than having to share a DVD around...
