Owning vs licensing isn't the same as digital vs physical. I don't want to clutter my apartment with plastic cases and disc trash but I want to own what I purchase. Software can be DRM free, console software could be too..
The other thing that never gets mentioned, you can't actually play the 1.0 version of the games on discs anymore anyway.
The first thing it does is load 50g of day one patches etc
So even if you have a disc, if the servers go down, you ain't going to be able to play the game the way you want.
Yeah, plenty of physical discs that are essentially licenses
