i hope the DSA folk get more influence there, they seem like the only force actually capable of doing any real change within a reasonable time period

I mean, yes, but the DSA has had a problematic and interesting history (I say this as a former member/member at large). And it's important to remember that they're not a political party and can run no candidates themselves (which would never work if they tried), so their best bet is to try to turn the DEEEPLY entreched liberal Democratic Party, which is like pulling teeth.

can u elaborate on what you find problematic about their history?

i'm curious cus i only really know about their present day stuff and not even much about that

[–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Ohh, a few years ago there was a series of (verified) SA and harassment allegations levied at some of the national leadership, around the same time there was a pretty big controversy surrounding the misappropriation of funds donated my members and also membership dues, and for this reason the Libertarian Socialist Caucus largely dissolved and left the organization. It was a whole kerfuffle

[–] kuiskaaja@lemmy.ml 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

damn, that's a mess.

i hope that kind of stuff stays in the past and they can move on

[–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 18 hours ago

Me too. It gives me hope that they're supporting more and more radical candidates, though.
