I think it's more that the entire business model of dating apps means they profit from people staying single and looking, not finding long term relationships.

but that's not really how they work.

they have the same business model as most apps, as in all of it comes from a few dumbasses who spend $1000s out of desperation. the vast majority of their users spend nothing.
