Reading this thread makes me so happy I long ago lost interest in watching sports. It sounds like a complete headache to be a fan of any sport these days.

Not only is watching sports harder it's littered with cheating because betting was let get it's hooks in it.

You'll never know if you're watching a legitimate game.. looking at you NBA.

Betting or gambling in general is a disease. Not only does the house have a superior advantage, it has an observed harmful impact for all.

It's all advertisement anyway.

[–] Larry@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's awful. I tried watching the NBA finals after years of not seeing commercials almost ever, and it was just unwatchable

Sport + Americans = enshittification. They ruined F1, and more football hydration breaks are coming. They took over MotoGP and immediately killed the most popular race, then race those stupid Harley baggers.

Fried chicken, Powerade, pizza, Pepto bismol, laxatives. Repeat. They sell you food you have to drug yourself to eat. Now "fans" only watch because they gambled on the game.

Seems to be about equally expensive as a normal streaming service.

[–] modus@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

It's free. They have premium servers, but it's free otherwise. Or am i missing something?

When I try to click on the games on the homepage, it says I need a premium account. Am I missing something?

Edit: I see—it’s only for the things labeled “other events” that premium is required. No horsie racing for me, I guess. ☹️

[–] modus@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

Good to know. Sorry for the disappointment. I never tried to watch those programs.

Is gostreameast.link the same thing?

[–] modus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Seems to be. Not sure why the color scheme is different (at least on my end)

NFL isn't bad, at least if you just want to follow your home team. The games are still broadcast free over the air, just got to buy a $20 antenna and you're set for life.

[–] frostysauce@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Um, only Sunday games are available OTA. If you live in the market where your team plays you might get Monday and Thursday games OTA if you're lucky.

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 3 points 20 hours ago

Shhh. He didn't know they play on other days.

[–] LaLuzDelSol@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

At least in my market all national games are simulcast OTA for local teams. I think. Definitely Monday night football.
