I'm all for the supportive dad vibe in this post. And love the role reversal in it.
But fuck gun culture it's so fucking toxic. Holding the fact you can kill somebody else over them is such a last resort this exchange doesn't sound remotely healthy to me.
I can show you a long list of murdered trans people to show you why this isn't toxic...
Yeah... Self defense is important for any group of peoples that is targeted by other groups of peoples. In this case, with extinction in mind.
You can take what the father said in many ways. You can also realize that hes probably being extreme for humor's sake.
Yes gun culture is toxic. Something that's pretty nontoxic is providing tools of self defense to loved ones that you fear are in more danger than yourself.
