Historically, protests have many functions as a base tactic in the overall strategy of social change.
Rarely are they the direct cause of regime change, except sometimes on the last day, but they are always necessary and productive.
It won't happen automatically. Somebody has to talk and listen to Trump's voters and convince them to vote for somebody else. That takes time.
That is, people also need to be prepared if there is no election.
