My brother in christ, you chose the instance.

.world is just the shitty flophouse I'm squatting in until I find (maybe build?) my forever home.

I’m a non-tech fl0pper. So what’s wrong with .world?

There's nothing wrong with it. Lots of folks pick one or more instances more central to their interests, after they get to know this place.

It doesn't make a huge difference.

Some of us have noticed ourselves subscribed to a large number of communities from the same instance, and then creates an account there to check out their "local" feed and discover new communities.

In my case, it was useful for relevant local news.

Also memes.

It's too popular, and having too many communities and users on one instance creates a problem when things like Cloudflare going down happens.

Totally get it. I forget which site led me to Lemmy but the first instance I joined was .ml and from there I moved to .world

It's view-only when I have my VPN turned on, for starters. Other than that, it's basically just reddit lite, that's just vibes though. I've been here several months, and kinda know my way around, but don't quite feel confident enough to join or start another instance. Still just getting the lay of the land, and - hey, I haven't been banned yet! So the vpn stuff is the only real issue I've had so far.

Yeah, it's not a 100% block, but it's more often than not. They're clearly blocking known vpn IPs.

When you call out a user on some bullshit the mods get butthurt that you’re singling them out.

Your idiotic disclaimer that you can use your messages for AI or using a “b” with a weird line on it isn’t going to do jack squat.

Edit: Plus they block the piracy sub-whatevers.

I think I’ve seen the character you’re describing. I think my take away from this thread is I need to deepen my understanding here and broaden my experience.

Up their own asshole nerds who have never touched grass hate on .world because the admins of it do their job and they disagree with how they do that job.

Y’all intense.
