My family were collaborators of the Pahlavi regime and forced to flee :( The revolution was started by socialist students and in the power vacuum the Ayatollah was able to guide the chaos to a new government. There is a lesson here for organizing that all leftists should study. I could never see eye to eye with my dad while he was still around to know how he could have worked with such a brutal regime, but he died a right wing American.

I hope some day I'm able to go back and see Iran. The last time I was there I was a baby.

Glad to see you resisted the reactionary monarchist diaspora curse ๐Ÿ’ช

It is so embarrassing anyone can learn the history of the Shah and SAVAK and support that coming back or believing Mohammad Reza Shah was some kind of "benevolent dictator"

My blood boils when Reddit shows pictures of rich people in Tehran in modern clothes like THIS IS HOW IT USED TO BE BEFORE THE AUTHORITARIAN DICTATORS CAME. The biggest joke in the world are Americans who think that they live in more of a democracy than modern Iran.

I think the level of Liberal brainworm toxicity of any given diaspora community in the West is directly proportional to the success of their home country in combatting imperialist schemes. Cuban and Venezuelan guasanos. Iranian Monarchists... whatever Yeonmi Park is...

I felt like it? Both avatars are important figures in Iranian history Zoroaster and Khomeni. I usually use the Zoroaster pic on other services. I'll probably change it again
