I wish that would translate to actual socialist ideas present in the population. Unfortunately SoCal is so neoliberal people will patronize you for suggesting that High Speed Rail should be done by a state industry rather than contractors.

The vast majority of the american left has at best trade-unionist consciousness, not class consciousness.
