Should that not prevent from running for something you have to be elected in???

Not sure if it would have prevented her running for office again, but in any case the conviction was overturned on appeal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauline_Hanson#Fraud_conviction_and_reversal

The constitution only renders you ineligible to sit in Parliament while you are under sentence or subject to sentencing. Once you've served your sentence you are eligible again.
