Is that ironic? The Internet started at a DARPA project. It was a military asset from the very start.

Well, the technology started there, but depending on what you call the "Internet", that's not really correct. The concept of the World Wide Web was formed at Cern in Switzerland. Before, there was no public access to anything.

Although government control is a part of it, I wouldn't say that's the main reason the public net sucks today. I guess it's more people being comfortably dumb and loving to be enslaved by corporations left and right.

Idk I feel like bots being produced en mass and advertisement based enshittification have a lot to do with it. And I feel like those don’t lie on the individual for blame.
