What is Cyberpunk?

Cyberpunk is a science-fiction sub-genre dealing with the integration of society and technology in dystopian settings. Often referred to as “low-life and high tech,” Cyberpunk stories deal with outsiders (punks) who fight against the oppressors in society (usually mega corporations that control everything) via technological means (cyber). I don't know anything about this game but the trailer makes it look like it takes place in Night City. Seriously, it looks like an unlicensed Cyberpunk 2077 game to me. Plus, it was made by Neon Giant, the team who made The Ascent, and I absolutely loved that game. I went from never having heard about this game to being extremely excited about it in the time it took to watch the trailer.

Did i mishear, or was there a line in the trailer "the mayor stepped in where the government couldn't"? Does mayor mean something else other than "the person in charge if the city government"?

Like that line is nonsense to me but trying to figure out if im missing something here...

It’s a little nonsense, but “the mayor” could be some title that a mob boss or whatever chose for himself, like some kind of spiderman-esque kingpin guy.

Some real “Look at me, I’m da mayor now.” energy after the actual government failed.
