This ignores that Trump wants a ballroom. The money doesn't add up because Trump's money never adds up. He needs that slop for his grift just like when he had to lie about the size of his inauguration crowd to cover the party fund raising grift.

There's no way he'd stay awake for planning a data center.

Trump's now talking about a giant Triumphal arch. There's no practical use in Trump's mind. There's only ego. If it was a data center Trump would be loudly announcing it as the biggest and best. If it's secrecy, there are hundreds of better options around DC that don't have reporters camped out front 24/7.

Nor do you need to demolish the East wing to build a secret underground data center. That only draws attention. After 9/11, there was a year of mining under/around the VP residence for assumed bunkers / underground transport.

There's Trump's narcissistic rambling but then behind there's also the opportunistic assholes who are taking advantage of it to push a more coherent terrible agenda.
