Being Russian correlate with alcohol abuse.

'Fun' fact! This stems in large part from the Russian Tsars making liquor a state monopoly in the late 19th century, ostensibly to control liquor consumption...

... but by making it a state monopoly, the Imperial Russian government found out it was profitable to sell as much of it as possible.
