No, a political rant is not a meme, not even by modern standards. A tweet which is just observing something isn't a meme.
Memes do not have to be funny nor internet related.
Are you using the outdated definition from Dawkins?
Sure, that's where the term comes from, why wouldn't I?
Here, I redefined the word "cheese" to mean black beans instead. What? Are you using the outdated definition based on milk? Get on with the times.
Because there's no point having a community dedicated to "units of transmissible information". That's just the internet itself. Every single community on the threadiverse would be a meme community so the name of this one would be meaningless and stupid.
Try and beat back the tide if you want, but I at least want communities that allow you to select reasonably what you're getting in your feed. "Memes" with the modern definition allows that to some extent.
