Explanation: Before the invention of the flush toilet, the chamberpot was the usual method of 'collecting' and disposing of waste. Better than shitting in a corner of the room (a practice recorded in some poorer urban areas of Europe as late as WW2 ๐ฌ) and trying to collect and dispose of it later!
And then it goes through the window :D

I remember a harrowing story about Late Victorian England, wherein they tore down an old apartment building to the (shitty) foundations and attempted to build a new one from scratch... only to find so much waste had been dumped in the immediately surrounding area that the terrain was basically shit-mush that all had to be removed and replaced with actual soil before the new construction could begin. ๐ฌ
oh by the gods... I can't even fathom the stench :O
