Anyone want to explain what actually happened here?

This is a set seed speedrun, first attempt failed (caught by cobweb) so the streamer used mod to reset speedrun.

The stronghold is that close to spawn, I checked that myself with seed in description.

When ender dragon hit the player, the speed can be transfered to arrow if you time it correctly, so one shot ender dragon is possible. (expatiation video is linked in video description)

Ah, the one-shot is what got me - thought it was trapped and crushed or something.

What got me is that the end portal was already active. Call me when you truly start from scratch.

https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/End_portal#Generation

Each individual end portal frame block has a 10% chance of containing an eye of ender, as determined by the world seed. This means there is a one in 1 trillion chance for all 12 end portal frames to contain an eye of ender,

Such impossibly lucky seeds are bound to be found when most speedrunners stick to the same version (1.16.1) for 3 years

That never actually occurred to me - NGL I know how it works but never gone to end. I do also wonder how much was items placed in the exact right place, or just the absolute perfect seed.

Thank you for explaining. Can you expand on the arrow speed thing? Do arrows do more damage when they go faster in Minecraft?

[-] Kerb@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 10 months ago

arrows actually dont have a fixed impact damage value, the damage is based on the arrows velocity.

if you say accelerate an arrow with tnt, you could oneshot anything, as long as the arrow gets fast enough.

i didnt know you could make use of that outside of redstone contraptions, but aparently, thats what happened here.

There is a "point" in ender dragon's hitbox, when player gets close to it gives the player very high velocity, by shooting an arrow before player gets damaged and go flying, the velocity is transferred to the arrow, one shot the ender dragon.
