Off topic but barbecue comes from Spanish 'barbacoa' which comes from Taíno language used in Caribbean. Natives there were eating grilled meat with spices. The Spanish took this recipe back to the old continent and it spread.

The common American abbreviation is BBQ.

As someone who grew up in an area and family with a strong bbq culture, im surprised it can be spelled with a 'c' lmao

That just looks wrong imo
