IIRC, the last time, the UK declared the government illegitimate and confiscated a bunch of Venezuelan gold to give to the other guy. Nobody made a fuss about that either.

For sure but this time the US goverment transferred the money from the oil to a private Qatari bank account, allegedly to evade the US legal system.
