conservatism is not about hate, it's about remembering one's youth and wanting life to be the same as then, it's about not wanting change

but that is the core definition, not the partisan and media definition

as I wrote, authoritarians take advantage of the natural tendencies in older humans to be frightened and not want change

It may not be about hate, but they often go hand in hand. Fear of change and The Other often breeds hate.
