The cyberpunk future I wanted was one where you could jack ~~off~~ into the matrix, and fly around in a 3 dimensional representation of the world's entire information ecosystem, using your whole mind and body to understand data, instead of just being tied to a 2-d screen. Instead we got this:

Mark Zuckerberg's Metaverse.
