Money spent not just on politicians and lobbyists but mercenary scientific outfits that start from the conclusion and design a study to get there, publications and media to get it coverage, lobbyists to take it to the politicians, then donations to the politicians.

I suspect there are direct payments of some kinds or another in a great many circumstances, and that with this new president it's like everyone pays and he always gets a cut. But I bet there are straight up bribes more than we would think, the supreme court basically made it legal through a number of rulings so it's not much of a stretch to presume that.

Pesticides are some of the worst most overused chemicals out there, systematically harming everyone to a degree, likely a factor in the vastly lowered sperm counts in the past couple of decades from prior. Also in the collapse of frog, and insect populations, the latter down 90 percent over the last 30 years or so.
