ROUND-THE-CLOCK seabird and marine wildlife monitoring is launching to better understand how offshore wind farms affect the natural environment.

The study, described as one of Scotland’s most comprehensive to date, is taking place at the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm, located 15.5km off the East Lothian coast.

The research will collect continuous data over two bird breeding seasons, focusing on seabird flight activity, behaviour and collision risks near operational turbines.
