Social media is an addictive substrate that platforms nazis and their propaganda. It's a breeding ground for online bullying which negatively, and sometimes fatally, affects teenagers. It's helped brainwash the older generations that were never taught critical thinking skills.
Forums about topics, where people could discuss those topics, was idyllic; but opening up a "forum" that is metaphorically like putting every human in a giant open space and exposing them to rage- or terror-inducing news and limitless sdvertising, has been an abysmal experience.
Social media has unequivocally been a net failure for our species.
