Once I was out on my kayak on a lake making yet another attempt to land a muskie (no luck yet) so I had some pretty beefy gear, heavy braided line, steel leader, the works.
My cast didn't go quite where I wanted it to and I snagged a log sticking out of the water. I could see my lure stuck to the log.
I figured with that heavy gear, surely whatever bit of waterlogged bark I was hooked on would give way before my line or lure broke, so I started reeling it in.
Instead my kayak began to move. Was not expecting that.
I shrugged, and figured it beat fumbling with my rod while I paddled over to the log the old fashioned way, and proceeded to winch myself over to the log by reeling myself in. It was a little slow-going, but it worked.
Not really a point to this, but it was oddly satisfying and I think of it every time I see a lure stuck to a log now.
