When bully is allowed into the room you smash its teeth, not run away.
This makes global news and puts real pressure on the International Esports Federation — the group actually capable of policing the bullies — to do their job.
This sucks, but is absolutely the correct play by the Ukrainian team.
Explain to me how the International Esports Federation is capable of policing the Russian government
By continuing to deny the regular Russian people the ability to participate in world events, sooner or later they start to question why and go looking for answers. Then you get a change in government.
It’s not running away, it’s standing up for what is clearly war crimes being committed by a nation.
In this very tournament there are no Russians at all, but it is important to make a mark. I remember Virtus Pro, where in 2022 a Russian player drew a big Z on the minimap. The team was excluded, but was back in 2023 as if nothing had happened.
