Workers aren't stupid

May i correct you? Educated workers arent stupid. Low education often leads to voting against once own interests.

Ofc i know noticeable change needs time. Especially with these things, fighting wealth inequality. And its always the same turns. Progressives/leftists come into power, the right fires campaign after campaign against them, they get voted out and right back in. Then the right reverses the changes or puts them as their own.

Most voters all around the globe dont vote for "what is factually better for the long term of not just me but also the future after me". They vote with their emotions in the moment. And that plays into the hands of people that only see these offices just as a way to enrich themselfs and their friends. Complex situations need complex solutions that have a complex reason and explaination. The majority of voters dont care. They'd rather pick the person that has easy solutions and no need to think about it much.

This is shown with election results for decades. If the vast majority were concerned about long term planing no right wing capitalist would have ever gotten to power.

This is democracies biggest problem: it is a buissnes of constant short term planning. Treating the symptoms, if at all, instead of the cause. Spend money to please a voter group so you get reelected in a few years. Everything is always just about the next election. Get voted out and you dont have to care about any of that anymore. Todays problems can be the problem of the next!

Monarchy doesnt have that problem. A monarch is bound to think long term. They will have to live with their consequences of their doing or lack of doing.

How ever this flaw of democracy is a societal. The mindset and economic system rewards short term thinking. Solution is education. Lots of education and change of culture. A society really is only a reflection of what media they consume - as cheesy as this sounds, it is true.

This being said, i rather have a flawed democracy than live under any dictatorship.

"starve or revolt"

From my experience it depends heavily on culture, for one thing. In france: increasing retirement or trying to cut workers rights, the people revolt. In Germany, the UK, USA: only a few people sound the alarms, but for the most part, the majority: A bit of grumbling, private complaining but nothing more.

And this mentality is also dangerouse. To just hope, that the workers then will follow a workers lead revolution? (not to speak of all the destruction and starvation to disrupted supply chains a global civil war will cause and not factoring in that most people are not made for frontline fighting. me included lol)

May i remind you of the 1920s and 1930s in germany? Everything for a revolution was given, massive unrest in society, people wanting change due to their missery, the current economic system bringing so much suffering and the people knowing it was the system that needs to change. Yes even a strong left wing movement (though partially lead by Stalin lovers like thälman). But the people chose the person that gave simple answers and promised them glory: Hitler. They voted for the nazis.

In my opinion what needs first to happen, unity threw a reawakened class solidarity. Which leads to more union membership meaning stronger unions. Stronger unions means stronger negotiation power of the workers and that leads to so so much more.

I am currently doing a study on why union membership in germany is declining. And from the bit of data so faar many dont know about which union and what benefits they would get from a union membership, or dont see a vaild reason to be member of a union due to it costing 10% of their income.

For the US though i think workers have to go back to tactics of 1870-80s. Secret unions. Because union busting, as is widely known, is strong and one doesnt have protection of being fired for calling for unionisation.

Also on another note: leftists in politics have to drop the "ideologie terminologie talk" when talking to the common voter. Full honesty. Not even labling yourself as "im a socialist" or "so vote for the socialists!" And stuff like that. Meeting the voters on their level, for me atleast this has been quite successful so faar
