Oh he always does. He gets wet food because he's got bad teeth (something called stomatitis) where he's allergic to his own tooth enamel. We are half way through having his teeth removed. Vet couldn't do them all in one session because some are still very well seated and he'd have to be under sedation too long. It sucks big time but he's a really good boy and has been a trooper through all the vet visits. Here is a pic from when I was ignoring him a few minutes before.

Aww. Poor Scooter.

My snowshoe had to have a tooth removed earlier this year. My vet said it's pretty common for the breed to have tooth and gum problems. He said my girl is likely going to need more teeth removed eventually.

The vet said it's unusual to see it so young, and then also said he had never seen a case so bad, even in adults. His gums looked like hamburger meat and it broke my heart. He had given no indication that it was painful to eat the dry food. We've had to get steroid shots every month since we started and the vet said THAT can lead to diabetes, so we need to get the teeth out and hope that's the last of it. Surgery is on the 7th, so hopefully that'll be the end of it. I hope your girl fares much better!

Poor kitty! One of my cats had all her teeth pulled before age two because of stomatitis and cracked fangs (she was a stray). She's going on ten now and is doing great. She eats mostly wet food with tiny kibbles as occasional treats. Hope Scooter has a speedy recovery like she did.

Oh my that sounds horribly painful. Good to know scooter would be free from that pain soon

He's so polite.

Wow. I'd never heard of stomatitis before, but it sounds pretty painful. Hope he gets through it OK. Thanks for the extra pic! That's a face that's hard to say no to.
