i totally support sex workers, but myself would never use their services.
the problem of exploitation and human trafficking that is so permeated through that sector, makes it impossible to tell who actually is doing that line of work voluntarily

This is why things like prostitution and drugs should be legalised, not because we're an unruly civilisation for allowing these things, but because it helps dismantle unregulated criminal activity which is better for society.

legalisation does help to fight the criminal exploitive networks behind prostitution but it does not prevent them

i’m from a central european country where prostitution is legal, but we still have a lot of human trafficking going on.

in this globalised capitalist world it is always cheaper and more profitable to traffic persons from the global south than setting up a legal business that pays taxes and social welfare deductions.

the problem is that these prostituted people aren’t even in a legal residency situation, so they couldn’t work in this sector legally (if they even chose to, a lot of them are trapped by false promises and once they here it’s too late for them to escape)

it’s a vicious circle

Like most things, it seems that if you're paying enough you can be more sure that they are working for themselves.
