Hey Seattle,

In the play Come from Away, there’s a song where the locals offer to make their visitors honorary Newfoundlanders by making them drink terrible alcohol and kiss a freshly caught cod.

This got me thinking: what kind of silly ritual could be used to dub someone an honorary Seattleite?

Finally!

I was aiming for creativity with this question. I really like the idea of ceremonially retiring an umbrella for a raincoat. Much more pleasant than getting someone’s socks wet, which is the best I’d come up with to acknowledge the rain.

One I saw during a comedy show: someone has invited you to an event. Acknowledge the invitation as kindly as possible without committing that you’ll be there.

“WOW that sounds fun!”
