Lol, thinking opera composers were rich people.
Also Operas aren't necessarily much more expensive than a cinema ticket. Some Opera houses have reasonable prices.

Many classical composers were basically like pets rich people owned (sponsored).
My wife graduated in the opera arts. Now teaching because the money is better and more reliable.
You know your field is fucked when people are becoming teachers for the higher pay.
The players aren't rich either, nor most of the singers.
