I've always been opposed to this kind of branding. Users are users, posts are posts, getting heavy into branding is always a bad sign to me.
I totally get where you're coming from but I think humanity's tribal nature makes us want to identify with something on the platform we're on.. Some type of name that defines all of us.
I agree to the extent that, if nicknames develop they should organically do so, and not be forced because "the other guys are doing it."
