Not a good news for the original PP. I personally don't use Mobian and I just use megi's kernel, but I understand their concerns.

Does anyone know if the PPP has a better battery life than the PP?

Cause if it doesn't ( and I don't belive it does ) then there was no point in releasing a "pro".

No, they have the same battery and Pro is hungrier.

Pro Lasts about 2 hours of active use for me.
