So much this. Still haven't been able to join a community I'm very interested in, just because it's hosted on another instance. From my instance it's not visible, if I just paste the name after my instances base url it doesn't find it, and of course I can't sub from the instance hosting it because, well, that's lemmy.ml and I'm feddit.it.
So yeah, that's a bit annoying/confusing.
Which community are you referring to? I want to see if I can figure out how to do it on my end. (I haven't had any issues subscribing to communities, but that might be because my instance is already linked to the communities I'm interested in or whatever)
It was the one about KDE users, but don't worry, somehow it showed up in the search results this morning, so all is good. Thanks anyway ๐
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe if you're the first user from your instance to access a specific community from another instance, then it will take a while for everything to sync and become ready for you. So it should generally work out fine if you just wait for a bit.
I do agree that the UX could be improved in this case, thoguh.
