I don’t think the MMS issues are on purpose in general, if you look at the standards MMS is not very featureful. The suggested maximum message size is less than 1MB for example. It’s a standard from when the RAZR was the thing to have.
Apple is adding RCS next year which should fix a lot of it, but probably still in green bubbles.
