Look, I will not generalise, not all gypsies are like that. But I can tell you that once, about 10 years ago I did go without internet for 2 weeks because gypsies cut down our DSL line for scrap metal. You do what you want with that info, but it does happen.

Right off the bat, "gypsy" is a racial slur.

If I were to call them roma or romani, half the people here would not even know who I am talking about.

My point still stands, some of them do behave like that. I am not sure if you ever lived near one such comunity, but I have. For the most part they did not cause much trouble, but made no effort to integrate into the society. They had reserved subsidised spots at uni, not like many ever reached that level. Most married at 12 and by 18 already had like 5 children. They collected social support and then sent their children and elderly to beg for extra income. Some left the country for more wealthy ones so they can steal, rob and scam more efficiently and muddy our country's reputation even more. Don't even get me started on their hygene... And no, money is not the issue, many of them drive expensive cars and live in large houses.

But not all are like that, some would do pretty good craftsmanship, make items like straw baskets or hats, artisan woodworking or metalwork and some would go gather forest fruits or mushrooms and sell them. Yet I never saw any of them giving reciepts or doing this legally so paying taxes was never in their mind, thefore not actually supporting the society.

So this is my point of view and my observations after living much of my childhood near their community. You can call me racist, however if you do, please point out what your experience is with them and what from I said is wrong or hateful towards then.
