As an American, it was also my breakfast for years.

I don't miss smoking, but sometimes I do genuinely miss smoking, if that makes sense. Especially with coffee or tea. :/

Having a cigarette with coffee while the sun rises is one of the things I miss most about smoking.

How long before you were able to drink coffee again? I couldn't even smell the stuff for at least a year after I quit.

[-] PeroBasta@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

Lol. Never had this issue. I never stopped coffe after I stop smoking. You don't simply stops with two drugs simultaneously lol

I always miss smoking, probably always will. I hate the taste of your mouth after, hate the stinky hands and clothes. Love smoking. Oh well

The first inhale I want, keep alllll the rest of it

Although saying that, a friend had some fancy Japanese cigs once, and that was next level experience. They were as smooth and mild tasting as tobacco marketing wants us to believe generic straights are, it was like breathing air through a straw 🤌

Yeah I've had some really tasty foreign smokes. If i were still a smoker Id probably try and find some way to get some more to try cuz it's probably the same as our food, chemical covered processed shit. I want my death nails clean bro

I feel ya. I quit smoking like a year ago and while I'm glad I did, I miss those cigarettes, when they just hit right.

[-] DharmaCurious@startrek.website 14 points 8 months ago

Yes! Exactly. Right in the back of the throat, that fullness in the chest, and the exhale that felt like you'd been holding your breath all day and you could finally breathe.

I am glad I quit, though. Picked them up again a few months ago when I was beyond stressed and good God, they taste like rancid shit.

Yeah I picked up a pack a few weeks ago after not smoking for ten years. I smoked half the pack over a few days and tossed the rest. It was just gross. I had romatasized it all hose years and then in reality t was just smelly and sticky and harsh. The smoke didn't feel nice and my hands felt dirty after. Took a week for the smell to leave my jacket.

Same, I haven't had a cigarette in 5+ years and still get cravings.

[-] SuzyQ@sh.itjust.works 5 points 8 months ago

My 80+ grandmother quit 60+ years ago and still gets cravings. I wish I'd never started and had the ability to quit but I'm not there yet.

Best advice I can give is just wait until you're ready. It helps too to get a respiratory infection and just quit while it feels terrible to smoke 😂
