It would have been significantly more effective for him to defect and go help Palestinians resist the IOF. Especially since he already had military knowledge.

yeah defecting seems logistically challenging, plus i assume a language barrier, and i probably wouldn't trust yankees if i were anyone else.

Depends on his job. Outright sabotage is pretty difficult to pull off, but if he was willing to die he could have probably walked into a building with some generals inside it and redacted.
