Oh damn this should've been my actual true answer to the which quotes are your most used question. Sometimes you quote something so much you forget you didn't come up with it yourself ๐
I get your point and im pretty sure its not that unpopular, but i think that she was set up this way on purpose to contrast the other characters for them to stand out more. Most of the time she's that paper while the other characters are the crayons.
I get that she's supposed to be the straight man. But also sometimes she's just awful all by herself. I stand by it lol.
I feel that Leela represents the superego, whereas Fry is the ego and Bender is the id. They tend to balance each other out.
One episode that always stands out to Me is where Leela dates that doctor, then drops him because he wanted to change people. I think that little girl would have loved to not have an extra ear on her forehead...
